ACPET

Representing quality private education
providers in Australia

Returning this October, Velg Training and ACPET will launch the 2018 National VET PD Week.

Ten leading VET experts will facilitate 10 targeted webinars over 5 days at reduced rate of $55.00 (incl. GST) each (regardless of your membership status with either organisation). The top 5 webinars from each organisation have been selected based on their previous success and the fantastic feedback they have received in the past.

These very popular webinars cover a range of topics specifically designed for trainers and assessors to upskill, extend knowledge and provide practical guidance relating directly to their role in the VET sector.

A complimentary webinar is also planned – and will be hosted after the week’s PD has concluded. This will give attendees the opportunity to provide live feedback about their experiences and to offer suggestions about how Velg Training and ACPET can continue to develop PD that is relevant and valuable to the sector in 2019.

2. Great Learning Ideas for Fostering Student Engagement

Getting and keeping students engaged in learning can be one of the toughest challenges for educators.  Curiosity is an innate trait, yet research suggests that as we get older, it diminishes, and in some cases, is actually squelched by the very system designed to teach us.  Given the renewed focus on supporting students in Vocational Education, it seems logical that as educators, we refresh ourselves on one of the basic tenets for learning.

2. The 1,2,3 of Observation Checklists

This webinar will break the process down of developing quality observation checklists for evidence gathering.

Units of competency describe both the skills and knowledge (amongst other aspects) that students must demonstrate in order to be deemed competent.

Evidence of these judgments needs to be retained for a period of time, but how do we keep evidence of a student's performance of skills for the cake they baked months ago? One solution is to ensure the RTO uses comprehensive observation checklists to keep a record of the performance of skills. This webinar will break the process down of developing quality observation checklists for evidence gathering.
