Participants attending this event will gain an understanding of language, literacy & numeracy issues in diverse contexts. The program will enable participants to identify learner needs and provide practical strategies in designing individual learning plans as well as tips for developing teaching and learning resources to support their LLN skills requirements.

This full day program will also support participants in understanding and applying the Australian Core Skills Framework to their delivery and assessment practices.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will have the knowledge and skills to:
• develop an understanding of the concepts of literacy and numeracy
• identify the LLN needs of learning programs and assessments
• develop an understanding of different learning styles and individual LLN needs
• design appropriate resources and methodologies to develop LLN skills, and
• understand and confidently apply the ACSF.

Facilitated by: Deborah Mullan

Deborah Mullan, from Training Th@t Works, is an experienced VET trainer and assessor, LLN specialist and WELL Consultant who has worked for more than 20 years, specifically in industry based WELL programs. These Workplace English Language and Literacy programs were across most industry sectors and were based on diverse Training Package units of competency. Deborah has conducted training needs analyses, project managed and implemented over 100 WELL programs focusing on learner needs and return on investment for the employer. Deborah is involved in a new ISC initiative as a Foundation Skills Champion Network Member. She is a NSSC Panel Member as an Access and Equity Adviser on Training Packages.
