Valuable IABW participation by ACPET members

Monday, December 7 2015

Feedback from ACPET members who attended Indonesia Australia Business Week (IABW) from 17-20 November confirms strong interest in furthering education and training opportunities.

The Hon Minister Robb AO MP led a 360-strong business delegation - the largest ever to visit Indonesia. The event covered four Indonesian cities, 110 events, 25 site visits and 200 speakers across four days.

Minister for Tourism and International Education, Richard Colbeck, also participated to highlight one of the key streams of the multi-sector visit, education and transnational skills.

Specific comments to illustrate the value realised by ACPET participants includes -

“IABW was a fantastic opportunity for me to engage at higher levels than would otherwise be open to me on an individual level.

From meeting and discussing VET opportunities in the region with the Minister responsible for International Education Senator Richard Colbeck, to quality conversations with very senior staff in the Ambassador’s office and Austrade, to sitting next to a Trade Commissioner exploring hospitality training options for an international chain building 200 hotels in Indonesia at lunch…everywhere you looked there was opportunity to be had.

The key with Indonesia is that you need to be here investing time and resources in building relationships and you just can’t do that in the same way from a distance.”
