An evening with Mr Andre Siregar, Consul for the Republic of Indonesia

Monday, November 16 2015

It was a delight on Wednesday evening to hear a most impassioned and targeted speech by the Indonesian Consul to the NT, Andrew Omer Siregar on the directions for Australian - Indonesian relations.

While the Consul expressed a level of disappointment over the state of relations under the Gillard and Abbott governments, he was most enthusiastic in respect of our new PM Turnbull and the positive nature of current discussions.

The evening was hosted by the NT Chamber of Commerce’s International Business Council and Chair Sean Mahoney stated how eager the NT was to forge stronger linkages with our closest neighbours.

Education and Training is high on the agenda and this week will see a 450 strong delegation of high profile Aussies travel to Indonesia with Minister Robb on a multi - faceted trade mission, with education one of the six industry streams.

Safe travels to the many ACPET members that are on this mission - I look forward to receiving your feedback.

For others interested in Indonesia, ACPET is hosting a delegation in January with the primary purpose of identifying partnership opportunities with member colleges of our Indonesia private provider equivalent, APTISI.  There will also be briefings from Indonesian experts on other opportunities.

Just drop an email to if you would like more information on this opportunity.
