New round consultation - implementation reforms to deliver more industry-relevant and flexible national training packages

The Australian Government is opening a new round of consultation with a particular focus on identifying improvements that can lead to better outcomes for students and employers.

On Friday 31st October 2014 the Department of Industry released the following two discussion papers for consideration (links provided):

Review of Training Packages and Accredited Courses (submissions due 18 February 2015)
Industry Engagement in Training Package Development – Towards a Contestable Model (submissions due 24 December 2014)

The Review of Training Packages and Accreditation Courses discussion paper has been released to start the conversation with Industry, employers, training providers, and students about whether these training packages and accreditation courses meet their needs and the that of the Australian economy generally.

The purpose of the IETPD discussion paper is for review and suggestions about contestable approaches to the development of training packages which guide industry-directed vocational education and training in Australia.

ACPET would like to provide a response from its members to the Department of Industry on these important discussion papers. Should you wish to contribute please feel free to utilise the attached template to provide a response to ACPET. There are many questions, so feel free to only respond to questions that are relevant or due to time constraints. ACPET will amalgamate the responses into an ACPET submission on your behalf and submit to the department.

Please forward all responses to Amanda Ungerer ( ) at least a week prior to the submission deadlines noted above.
