Good Morning Everyone,

Firstly let me send a big thank you to members who provided input and comments in regard to last week’s discussion about the need or otherwise for more structure around ELICOS  and other English programs. It was very valuable feedback and is helping to guide ACPET’s position in this area. As a position paper is developed we will place it in the Members Only section of the website to get more input from members.

As all members should be aware elections are currently taking place for Board Directors to represent Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory. Please exercise your democratic rights and cast your vote for your preferred candidate.

Unfortunately in the Northern Territory Olivia Phillips has had to withdraw from the election. Her workload has increased significantly and she considered that she would not have the time needed to fulfil the Director role. We thank Olivia for her interest and hope she can remain engaged and find other ways to contribute to the work of ACPET. Olivia’s withdrawal will mean that Sean Mahoney will be declared the successful candidate for the Northern Territory when the election results are declared at the AGM. Well done Sean. I am sure the other Board Directors are looking forward to continuing to work with you.

It is that time of the year when the Board examines the composition of State Committees. We will be seeking expressions of interest from members interested in contributing to the good of our sector through the work of ACPET State Committees. At some time this week an e-alert will go out looking for nominations. If you are on a State Committee and wish to remain engaged or you wish to be considered to become part of a State Committee please look out for that e-alert. It is important that we have well balanced and active State Committees so please give this your due consideration.

While on the need for your contribution, if you are unable to make it to this year’s AGM please send in your Proxy Form appropriately filled in. It is important that we have a quorum for this important event in ACPET’s calander.

Perth’s weather is still holding up so I really encourage you to sign up for the Annual Conference in the West. Hope to see you all in WA at the end of August. We also hope to be able to announce the appointment of a new CEO at that time.

Please feel free to provide any thoughts you may have on these or other topics at

Larry Davies
