What does Modi's win mean for international education in India?

PIE News reports Indian Prime Minister Modi wants to setup MOOCs and virtual classrooms "to make it convenient for working class people and housewives to further their knowledge and qualifications". Modi's election manifesto promised to increase education spending to 6% of GDP, up from 4%, and placed a clear emphasis on skills development and improving quality in higher eduction.

Policies being considered include raising the standard of education and research to enable Indian universities to compete on a global scale, level and improve their position on league tables, establish Centres of Excellence in partnership with industry to offer skills training, and breaking the social stigma attached to vocational education by providing vocational qualifications of academic excellence.
