Update on SVP transfer policy

Monday, June 23 2014

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has recently updated their website and released policy advice regarding SVP students who transfer to non-SVP courses or providers within the same education sector for which their visa granted.

In summary, students who transfer to a course of study that is not eligible for streamlined visa processing and have not been granted a new visa appropriate to their new course then their visa might be considered for cancellation.

It is DIBP policy that students who transfer to a course not eligible for streamlined visa processing at the same level as their current course would not be considered for cancellation if either:

   - the country of their passport is Assessment Level 1 for their current visa or
   - they have held their current visa for at least 12 months.

For further on SVP and non-SVP and other student visa policy concerning chnaging course please see their webpage.
