SSVF Appraisal report now published
The Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) Appraisal and recommendations, are now available on the Department Home Affairs’ website at:
Review of the Skilled Migration Occupation List
There are changes proposed to the list of eligible occupations for the Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (TSS - which has replaced the 457 visa).
The Department of Jobs and Small Business (DJSB - formerly Employment) determines the list of occupations eligible for entry under the skilled migration program and reviews the lists every six months.
On 31 May, DJSB proposed changes to the list. There are 509 eligible skilled occupations currently on the three lists:
- The Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL);
- The Medium-Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL); and
- The Regional Occupation List (ROL).
DJSB proposes 17 occupations be removed and a further six amended. DJSB has opened a public consultation until 20 June for changes that will come into effect in July.
Stakeholders are encouraged to make a submission in relation to any occupation they are interested in, even if no change is flagged at this time. You can register as a stakeholder with DJSB so that you will be alerted to any developments and register your feedback on the proposed changes.
There are Submission Guidelines to assist you in preparing a submission.
