ACPET hosts international student reception this Friday

Growing the international student market is one of the NT Governments top priorities – and making sure our foreign visitors have a rewarding experience during their stay is also a priority. With the support of Study NT, ACPET is pleased to host a reception of students in the new Darwin Student Hub in the Darwin Mall from 3pm on Friday. This will be a regular event and all international students - and their friends- are welcome.

Students will be briefed on the delights of living in the NT with tips on staying safe (and avoiding those crocs) while mixing with friends, being entertained and enjoying some local tucker.

Providers and students are welcome at no charge – although for catering purposes an indication of numbers would be appreciated to

Practitioner TAE Upgrades on offer

Of course all practitioners are aware that 1 April next year is the deadline to have your TAE qualification upgraded with two new mandated units – TAEASS502 Design and Develop assessment tools and TAELLN411 Address adult LLN skills. ACPET last week signed a contract with the NT Government that will provide these upgrades to two (2) practitioners from each NT based RTO at no cost other than your time to attend over two days.

This week negotiations will be finalised with three RTOs to deliver these units with some initial dates identified in both Alice Springs and Darwin. Interested? – Just email

Welcome to Donghai Airlines

Congrats to the Gunner government for securing our first direct commercial flights from China. Donghai Airlines are offering direct flights from Shenzhen (about an hour by train/car/ferry from Hong Kong and arguably offers better and cheaper shopping) into Darwin.   While this is great for tourism, lest we forget the appeal of this direct flight for potential students.

Members desirous of booking these flights are recommended to do so through a local travel agency as there have been some issues reported in respect of fare costs through the Donghai web site.
