NT Update

Monday, April 9 2018

Interested in having a voice on an NT Government Board or committee?

Northern Territory Government boards and committees play an important role in good governance by providing independent and expert governance or advice. They provide an effective link between government, the community and industry. Appointments to these boards and committees are approved by the Minister responsible for the relevant legislation, or in some cases, the Administrator of the Northern Territory. Legislation generally outlines any specialist qualifications required of members. A list of NTG statutory boards and committees can be viewed on the NT Government web site and to lodge your interest please complete the following:

NT Defence and National Security Update

The NT Government hosted a briefing session on the NT Defence and National Security Strategy 2018 for interested and potential industry partners. Defence in the NT contributes about 10% of total economic activity and this is envisaged to grow quite significantly. Say no more.

Of interest was the clarification of what is the defence industry in the NT?  The response was that it is every industry – from food to manufacturing, housing, transport, entertainment, health and of course those services more traditionally aligned to defence.

ACPET to delivery on a Study NT International Student Well Being Grant

ACPET NT is pleased to advise that we are party to a Funding Agreement with the Department of Trade, Business and Innovation for the delivery of International Student at Home in the NT information sessions.  These sessions will be hosted regularly at the Darwin Student Hub or other suitable venues to show our new temporary residents some of the highlights of the NT with an introduction to aboriginal and local Aussie customs, to imbibe in some traditional fare, to be advised of life in the NT and some pointers on safety and wellbeing as well as a chance to meet and greet with some locals.

We look forward to being able to promote the NT and to also help these student to acclimatise to this great Territory. Any providers who may wish to assist are welcome to contact michael.hall@acpet.edu.au or 0438463598.
