Darwin welcomes International House
Monday, December 11 2017
A belated welcome to the NT to long time ACPET member International House. IH is Australian owned and the Darwin campus will be a sister college to International House Sydney and International House Bondi, International House and ih Business College.
IH Darwin operate out of Searcy St in the Darwin CBD and will potentially be welcoming college students from more than 75 countries to attend English language and business courses, operating as International House Darwin and ih Business College / ihBC.
IH acknowledges that Darwin is an excellent location for international students and has a capacity for over 150 students in the morning and the same number again in the evening. IH also will undertake worldwide marketing efforts to advocate Darwin as an excellent study location while supporting future population growth in the Northern Territory and contribute to the goal of 10,000 international students by 2022 studying and visiting Darwin and the NT.
It is pleasing that IH have identified the centre of Darwin for their new college – one of the objectives of the NT Government’s Economic Development Framework is to attract international students into the CBD. Currently, the majority of international schools and institutions are in the suburbs so the students are removed from the convenience and vibrancy of inner city life.
International House is one of the largest and oldest groups of language schools in the world. Founded in 1953, they are a global network of 160 language schools in more than 50 countries. Schools in the network teach English, Spanish, German, French and a wide variety of other languages. Across their network, IH schools train about half of all CELTA graduates in the world with well over 200,000 students and employ in excess of 5,800 teachers.
Congratulations International House
