- Easy to implement and effective ELICOS and EAL teacher professional development ideas

This webinar looks at a wide range of easy to implement professional development ideas for all teachers. The focus will be on EAL and ELICOS teaching but many of the ideas are suitable for teachers across all disciplines both in the VET and higher education sectors. The focus will be on using professional development ideas which require no or only minimal financial outlay but which are highly effective in helping teachers to grow professionally. The webinar is for all educators interested in developing themselves professionally.
Presenter: Lana Harsymiv
Lana Harasymiv has worked in education for 25 years with most of that time spent in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) education, including 12 years teaching and managing TESOL programs in Japan. She has worked as Director of Studies of both VET and English programs and has extensive experience in preparing both VET and ELICOS courses for accreditation and additions to scope. She is also experienced in preparing RTOs for audits, including re-registration audits. She holds a Masters in Arts (TESOL) and two post-graduate diplomas in education. She is currently employed as the Director of Studies of English Programs, managing both ELICOS and EAL foundation skill programs.

This frequency of activity presents lots of opportunities to attract, support and retain learners through engaging and relevant online activities. This session will share how social media can be used to get people’s attention about training opportunities, as well as grow communities of practice and support alumni.

Allison Miller has been a professional learning and business development leader for over 20 years. She is the Director and Lead Consultant of Digital Capability, an organisation which specialises in cutting edge e-learning and e-business solutions which help people succeed online. More recently, Allison has also been helping businesses work smarter in a digitally disrupted environment so they can implement innovative ideas using entrepreneurial approaches. Allison has a Master of Learning and Development (Organisational Development). She also leads the ePortfolios Australia professional network and the annual Australian Eportfolio Forum.
