Indonesia Australia Business Week - March 2017

Monday, January 16 2017

Members interested in working in skills development in Indonesia are encouraged to consider participating in Indonesia Australia Business Week 2017.

Organised by Austrade, IABW 2017 will include opportunities to engage with Indonesian government officials, key industry players and customers through a range of seminars, roundtable discussions, networking events and site visits over four days in the week commencing 6 March 2017.

Indonesia’s large and youthful population presents significant opportunities for vocational education and training (VET) skills delivery and collaboration with industry, particularly for the delivery of in-market education and training. Skills gaps in Indonesia represent opportunities for Australian training providers to work in collaboration with Indonesian training institutions and corporations to develop competency-based training for Indonesian workers and showcase Australian capabilities through in-market skills delivery.

The Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), implemented as part of the ASEAN Economic Community, has had a significant impact on the Indonesian workforce. MRA is an arrangement between ASEAN countries that facilitates free movement and employment of qualified and certified personnel between ASEAN member nations.

As a consequence of this free movement, the Indonesian Government has developed strategies to protect domestic workers by upskilling them. These strategies include developing a competency-based training and education system and improving vocational education institutions.

IABW 2017 will consider the range of market entry and partnership models across the following sub-sectors for the vocational education and training sector:

  • Hospitality and tourism (including food safety)
  • Marine – port management and safety
  • Mining, Equipment and Technology Services (METS) – training and safety
  • Allied health – patient care.

Expressions of interest to participate in IABW close on 17 February 2017. For more information and to register your interest visit Austrade’s website.
