Raising the Bar
Raising the Bar is a social start-up with a goal of bringing intellectual content to the general population via bar talks from experts in their field. From its beginnings in New York in 2014, it has since been held in London, Hong Kong, Sydney and San Francisco.
City of Melbourne aims to provide Melburnians with unique opportunities to access and be inspired by the words and work of some of the country’s greatest thinkers. We seek expert speakers to share their knowledge and inspire the public on topics close to their hearts and minds in some of our most unique and well known hospitality locations.
To provide you with further information on Raising the Bar, here is a great article in the Guardian about the first event held in New York, Bar talks: how New Yorkers quench their thirst for knowledge.
Raising the Bar Melbourne will be held on the evening of Wednesday, 23 November 2016 with 20 talks taking place in bars across Melbourne at three session times: 6.30pm, 8.30pm and 10.30pm. They will be one hour in length with the talk running for 30-40 minutes followed by a Q&A with the audience.
Individual speakers or duos are to be notable professors, researchers and/or industry leaders and select a talk topic on a collection, research, innovation or specific area of expertise that most importantly you are passionate about to share with the public.
