VET Data policy Review – Have your say
Monday, August 29 2016
The Australian Government is seeking input from vocational education and training (VET) data stakeholders to inform a review of the National VET Provider Collection Data Requirements Policy (the Data Policy) and the VET Data Protocol (the Protocol). The objectives of national VET data collection are to increase the transparency and efficiency of the VET sector, to support understanding of Australia’s VET market, and to enhance management of the national training system. This helps students, business, industry, training providers, regulators and governments to make informed choices.
The Review provides an opportunity to consider whether the Data Policy is working as intended. Feedback from the Review consultations will inform recommendations for change, which are expected to be considered by Commonwealth, state and territory skills ministers towards the end of 2016.
ACPET’s VET Committee will be meeting with the review consultants but the input of members is also encouraged given the role that data provision plays in day-to-day RTO operations, particularly with the Total VET Activity reporting requirements. The feedback mechanisms include an online survey of those who collect and input data. Submissions close 16 September 2016.
