ACPET Queensland 2016 State Forum - "Disruption. There's good and bad."

Monday, February 29 2016

Registrations are now open for the Queensland State Forum which is a significant calendar event, where the private training sector and its key stakeholders in the state come together to listen, discuss and debate topical issues and be inspired by a range of passionate and powerful key note speakers and presenters. This year’s theme “Disruption. There’s good and bad.” is particularly relevant to the disruptive, challenging and complex environment ACPET members are facing.

The subject of disruption motivates some people and panics others. Putting the current climate into perspective; the constant negative media targeting the sector, the never ending roll out of new legislation, administrative guidelines and reforms, can be viewed as an impediment to your business, or it can be seen as the opening you’ve been waiting for to strategically position your brand and create exceptional student growth by addressing a market that couldn’t previously be served. There’s certainly good and bad elements to disruption, the question is; ‘Does the attention ‘disruption’ creates take away from the application of your actual training product and realistically, is your business ready to maximise the probabilities that disruption presents’?

Our list of key note speakers for this year’s event is astounding.

  • Our master of ceremonies is Simone De Haas, a renaissance woman. Her creative capacities move effortlessly between stage and boardroom, singing or directing and leadership, and the freedom of improvisation to the acuity of corporate storytelling. Simone will not only facilitate the conversations throughout the day, she will also provide delegates with a key note address. Read more about Simone at www.thespeakersdirector.com.
  • The Honourable Yvette D’Ath, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Training and Skills will join us and provide an update on the formation of Jobs Queensland and the 2016/17 VET Investment plan.
  • Negotiations with a key sponsor, well renowned for their capabilities in strategic branding, are underway and more information will be available shortly. Their key note presentation will essentially set the scene for the day.
  • Allan Bonsall from Brand Genetics, will facilitate ACPETs own version of the ‘Hidden Persuaders’ where the panel will put the spotlight on the big disruption issues facing the sector. The panellists will contend that the private training sector does not control its future, that ultimately it is controlled by funding on the one hand, and incorrect perceptions that exist in the marketplace, on the other.
  • There will also be a variety of exhibitors in the ‘provider market place’ full of relevant suppliers to the sector. The market place opens at 8am.

The forum is scheduled for Wednesday 13 April 2016 with registrations commencing from 8.30am at the Pullman hotel in the Brisbane City. The State Forum will conclude at 4.00pm with a cocktail function following for all to attend.
