NT member taking training to the world

Site Skills Training is a Northern Territory Registered Training Organisation and has recently secured a $2million training contract for the delivery of Crane, Plant, Rigging and Scaffolding training in Saudi Arabia.

The Agreement is for delivery of training programs for a new Crane and Heavy Equipment Training College in Jazan, Saudi Arabia.  The College will develop competent Saudi operators to meet the requirements of industry and assist with workforce nationalisation targets.  The College and training programs are endorsed by Global Oil & Gas major Saudi Aramco with most graduates to be employed in the Jazan Economic City where Saudi Aramco is building a new refinery.

In addition to the crane and heavy equipment operator training, the Agreement also includes developing riggers and scaffolders.

Site’s CEO and Managing Director Vernon Wills added, “The commitment Al-Ajmi has for workforce nationalisation reflects Site’s objectives for the development of national workforces that are competent and safe.  This Agreement builds on our workforce nationalisation projects in Philippines, PNG, Myanmar, Malaysia and Timor Leste.”

“This one-year contract with a further two year option is worth circa AUD$2M revenue for Site for the first year of the contract and will develop around 500 Saudi operators to meet the immediate needs of the Jazan Region including the Jazan Economic City.”

Site Skills Training, while based in   Darwin, operates facilities in Gladstone, Darwin, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Perth, Philippines and PNG, with on-site operations through Asia – Pacific, the Middle East  and north Africa. Site Skills have also undertaken programs in Indonesia, Timor Leste and with other northern neighbours. One of more innovative approaches was the construction of a n underground mine for training purposes in the Philippines
