Workshop # 4: Michael Gwyther and Heidi Bradburn
Trends in e-Learning Workshop
2:00pm to 5:00pm |
|
Michael Gwyther, Director e-Learning (yum productions pty ltd) and Heidi Bradburn (eCHIDNA) will present a lively session exploring flexible delivery in VET. Michael and Heidi are both mentors in ACPET's Victorian Govt e-Learning Mentor Program for RTOs. They draw on a broad range of experiences mentoring and supporting RTOs with flexible delivery over the past 10 years.
Many RTOs feel pressure to go down the flexible delivery/eLearning road. That road is strewn with successes and failures from which we draw some key lessons. Getting the right approach for your RTO is critical to a strategic implementation. Learn about the key considerations to balance:
- Our learners are changing
- What trends are current (Mobile, Informal Learning, Webinars, etc)
- Should we rethink and reshape our existing training design for flexible delivery
- Equipping trainers to meet the new challenges
- Applying new technologies and delivery strategies
- Measuring the benefits and opportunities
- Understanding the need for business planning and strategic buy in across the organisation
- Infrastructure required
You will explore these themes through case study experiences from private training providers that cover the pitfalls as well as successes. This workshop will explore how RTOs have reinvigorated their training provision through flexible learning. You will explore these RTO case studies via a number of eLearning delivery strategies to give you insights on how these delivery strategies look and feel. You will also see some sample e-learning applications/tools/websites, examine some simple tools to enable buy in and quick implementation and uncover people and resources - including ACPET - that can help you get into flexible delivery.
This session is specifically designed for decision makers who need to better understand flexible learning, its use and what is involved in implementation.
