Recognising his dedication to Australia’s hospitality and tourism industry, Hospitality Training Association Inc (HTA) CEO Phillip Charlton has won the 2010 Industry Recognition Award from the world’s peak hospitality education and research association.
Awarded by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), the Industry Recognition Award is given to a hospitality and tourism industry professional or organisation who has demonstrated commitment to advance hospitality and tourism education as a discipline.
The ICHRIE is a non-profit international association for schools, colleges and universities offering programs in hotel and restaurant management, foodservice management and culinary arts.
Mr Charlton said he was honoured to be recognised by his global peers with such a coveted industry accolade. “An international advocate for hospitality and tourism education, the ICHRIE unites educators, industry executives and associations by encouraging the exchange of ideas, research, products and services to better the industry,” he said.
“I would like to pay tribute to HTA’s founding members as well as my passionate and talented team at HTA who work hard every day to deliver quality education, training and employment opportunities to domestic and international students.”
Mr Charlton will receive his award at the ICHRIE annual conference in Puerto Rico in July.
