National Monday Update

Last month, five education and training peak bodies - Universities Australia, TAFE Directors Australia, the Australian Council for Private Education and Training, English Australia and the International Education Association of Australia - wrote to the Prime Minister requesting an urgent meeting to discuss the challenges faced by the international education sector.

Preceding the ACPET National Conference a number of master classes and workshops

Last week the SA Premier Mike Rann, as Minister for Sustainability and Climate Change, signed a VET sector Agreement with ACPET and TAFE SA, committing to cooperation in responding to climate change through green skills development for SA’s workforce.

The Minister for Tourism, Jodi McKay, hosted a function at Tourism NSW last week to thank members of the Joint Ministerial Taskforces that were convened as part of the NSW Tourism Strategy.

Recognising his dedication to Australia’s hospitality and tourism industry, Hospitality Training Association Inc (HTA) CEO Phillip Charlton has won the 2010 Industry Recognition Award from the world’s peak hospitality education and research association. 

ACPET QLD has raised in excess of $12,000 for Variety the Childrens Charity. It is heartening that so many members and colleagues have contributed to this wonderful cause.

The objective of the associated research is to provide an overview of industry engagement in VET and provide concise and practical information, tools and resources that RTOs can use to help assess their industry engagement activities and develop engagement plans and strategies that support the sustainability of their business.

Sustainable International Recruitment: Your passport to success (Beginner)

Last week Andrew Smith and Claire Field spent two days in Adelaide on a round of meetings with key agencies such as NCVER and DFEEST, as well as with Minister Jack Snelling on current matters of interest to members.
