Earlier this week, I wrote to ACPET members to announce a change in our organisation’s Executive leadership, and I am taking this opportunity to provide advice to the sector as a whole on these changes given the substantial role ACPET and its members play in Australia’s tertiary sector.

Three registered training organisations (RTOs) have been awarded funding to implement and trial an e-portfolio system which enables learners to move quickly and efficiently between education and training, employment and industry areas.

The Australian Government through Australian Education International has funded the development of a National VET Outbound Mobility Toolkit.

Cohesion, not division needed to save international education

ACPET’s Disability Ambassador, Karni Liddell (a journalist and former Australian champion swimming paralympian) will write a series of personal articles in the coming weeks, providing a glimpse into her private experiences with a disability as a student, journalist, and champion of people with a disability.

Australian Capital Territory

The Federal Member for Canberra, Ms Annette Ellis MP, today opened new facilities at Communities@Work that will improve vocational education and training for students in the Tuggeranong region.

The ACT Chapter of the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) with the ACT Government and Austrade proudly present a forum on International Education: Focus on Canberra.

New South Wales

Meeting with Michel Peters, Academic Director and Bryn James Education Manager based at the Sydney Culinary Arts Institute provided valuable insights to a benchmark college in the hospitality sector.

Last week, NSW Member Support Officer Sarah Rosen met with Debi Toman, a National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO) hosted by the University of Western Sydney.

NSW stakeholders are invited to attend presentations in Sydney on Tuesday 20 July.

ACPET RTO members are advised that the NSW Training Market Tender to establish the 2011-2012 NSW Department of Education and Training’s Approved Providers List is due to open on Wednesday 8 September 2010 and close Wednesday, 6 October 2010.

Queensland

Charlton Brown CEO and ACPET National Chair Kay Ganley had great delight in opening the Charlton Brown facility in the knowledge centre at Springfield’s education city.

Taiwan was Queensland’s fifth largest international student source market in 2009.

The State Government has commissioned an independent review of post-secondary education and training in Queensland to prepare the sector for the next cycle of strong economic growth.

QLD members will have an opportunity to welcome newly appointed Deputy CEO Claire Field next Monday 26 July from 5:00pm at GrooveTrain in the newly redeveloped King George Square.

ACPET’s Daisy will make her first public debut for 2010 in King George Square next Monday evening at the ACPET welcome to Claire Field member reception from 5:00pm -7:00pm.

South Australia

ACPET, Education Adelaide and ISANA are pleased to announce that they are holding a workshop on Managing Cultural Diversity within training organisations.

ACPET, in association with Transport SA, is encouraging students and staff of member colleges to go Green – one kilometre at a time!

Following the success of its booked-out International Student information sessions earlier this year, ACPET SA is proud to announce an encore series in the second half of 2010.

We are pleased to see the WA Department of Education Services will actively promote Western Australia as a positive destination for study.
