Last Friday I had the honour and privilege of accompanying our National Chair, Kay Ganley and members of the ACPET staff in attending the NAIDOC week Ball, a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions of Indigenous Australians in various fields.

NSW Member Support Officer, Sarah Rosen and ACPET’s new Deputy CEO, Claire Field met with Frank Prestipino, Managing Director ICMS last week.

Matt Church will be facilitating a pre-conference master class, Presentation Skills 2.0; Learn the skills to become a World Class Presenter!, on Wednesday 25 August in Melbourne.

The old adage ‘knowledge is power’ rings true for an Indigenous pre-employment program which is engaging Aboriginal people with mining work in Western Australia.

The AQF Council met on Wednesday 16 June 2010 and agreed on the package of policies that should comprise the strengthened AQF.

Issue #67 of Training Matters News’ is important to ACPET RTO members and is the first of a series that will be published by the NSW DET State Training Services that will deal exclusively with providing information on various aspects of the upcoming Tender and changes to the 2011 – 2012 Approved Providers List (APL).

Do words hurt?  It depends on who you are asking; the person hearing the words, or the one saying those words. The perpetrator may say that "It's just words" or "I really didn't mean it", but the damage has already been done. We were told as children over and over from our parents that "Sticks and stones will break our bones, but words will never hurt us.”  Well I am here to tell you, that this saying is a lie.

South Australia

The Productivity Commission is currently undertaking a study into the issues impacting on the VET workforce. ACPET will provide a report in response to this study.

ACPET, in association with Transport SA, is encouraging students and staff of member colleges to go Green – one kilometre at a time!
