trade mission to kids create tokyo 2010 exhibition

National Monday Update Issue:

Trade Queensland invites Queensland companies to participate in the Kids Create Tokyo 2010 Exhibition in its inaugural year. The theme of the exhibition is ‘kids’, encompassing infants through to junior high school students.

Trade Queensland Japan has secured a booth at the exhibition and offers Queensland companies an exceptional opportunity to showcase Queensland products and services to the Japanese market. The majority of visitors to the trade show will be from the general public, presenting the opportunity to market products/services directly to the public (B2C). The event will be held during the summer school holidays and it is expected to attract over 30 000 visitors.

Japan has an ageing population and is experiencing declining birth rates. To address these social issues, the Japanese Government introduced child subsidies from June 2010 to encourage an increase in the birth rate. The child allowance is paid for children up to the age of 15, providing parents with greater disposable income to spend on their children. Based on feedback through the media, it is anticipated that parents will increase their spending on English education for their children, including study abroad programs.

Trade Queensland seeks interest from companies that offer products/services in these areas:

  • Education
  • Publications
  • Art
  • Hobbies
  • Outdoor Activities
  • Sports
  • Apparel
  • Baby Goods
  • Maternity
  • Furniture
  • Security
  • Survival Goods
  • Franchise and Others

In addition, since Kids Create Tokyo is a consumer focused event, companies should either:

  • Already be selling their products on the market in Japan through importer/agents and be able to provide interested consumers with details on where (or how) their products/services can be purchased within Japan
  • Have export experience, but not yet sell products/services on the market in Japan and be prepared to travel over with stock to participate and to gauge consumer feedback on their products, as well as to try and identify a possible business partner in-country.

Companies must be Queensland based.
