acpet on a mission – variety car 142 "licence to skill" to hit the streets

National Monday Update Issue:

ACPET’s 2010 Variety Car entry has gone ballistic thanks to the efforts of Bill Stoddart and the team at Stoddart’s who are designing and producing two roof  ‘missiles’ to provide some James Bond pizzazz to the car.

Alissa Young, the 2010 Apprentice of the Year, will be responsible for much of the production of these units.

In true James Bond style, Daisy is being equipped with an array of features including smoke screen devices, water cannons, laser lights and sound effects that will guarantee a high profile and media interest as well as resonating with students.

The 2010 Variety Charity Bash is set to depart Southport to Port Douglas on 29 July.  Some 3,500 klms later, having meandered through central Queensland over 200 ‘Bash’ cars will descend on Port Douglas in North Queensland.  Last year over $1 million was raised through this combined effort and we are indebted to our members who contributed so generously to this most worthy of children’s charities.

The mission of Licensed to Skill is to promote the good word of private providers to communities and schools throughout Queensland.

ACPET this year has already raised in excess of our $10,000 target for the charity and are now looking for supporters and drivers for the 10 days, and then of course drivers to get our entrant, the Mercedes also known as Daisy back to Brisbane.

Preparation of the car continues under the direction of Terry O’Hanlon Rose and the pit crew at the Australian Trade and Technical College after last year’s magnificent efforts by the team at MTA Institute.

Signage sponsorship closes soon.  The car is being totally recoated for the Licence to Skill theme this year so please contact Michael [dot] Hall [at] acpet [dot] edu [dot] au (Michael Hall) if you want your institute logo included.

The ongoing support for this project is most appreciated and we at ACPET are in awe of the abilities, creativity and generosity of so many of our members and friends.

Thank you.
