ACPET’s 2010 Variety Car entry has gone ballistic thanks to the efforts of Bill Stoddart and the team at Stoddart’s who are designing and producing two roof  ‘missiles’ to provide some James Bond pizzazz to the car.

The AQF Council met on Wednesday 16 June 2010 and agreed on the package of policies that should comprise the strengthened AQF.

Users of vocational education and training (VET) data are invited to have their say as part of a review of the statistical standard for the National VET Provider Collection.

Being able to electronically verify learner information, such as educational qualifications, has the potential to help streamline employment applications, course admissions and RPL (recognition of prior learning) processes.

New South Wales

ACPET NSW members are advised that the new AQTF standards (to be called AQTF, not AQTF 2010 as previously advised) are now available on the www.training.com.au website.

On June 25, 2010 AICL and AIH Higher Education had a dual celebration: AICL celebrated 10 years of success and quality education and AIH Higher Education celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art campus on Pitt St in Sydney.

Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia, has a new Sydney Campus in the heart of Sydney’s design community in Surry Hills. The four and a half thousand square meter campus will commence operation in August and be officially opened in November. Everyone is invited to visit this special studio learning space and perhaps also enjoy the surrounding design community.

As a taste of thing to come the Whitehouse Open Days in June were held at the new campus. Students and staff are thrilled with the new campus and eager to start there in Semester 2.

Northern Territory

The Inaugural meeting of the ACPET Northern Australia Focus Group is to be held at the Crowne Plaza Darwin from 3.30 – 5pm on Monday 19th July. Our thanks to those Territorians who have expressed interest to date.

 ACPET is pleased to announce a series of Professional Development sessions designed to support RTOs throughout the Northern Territory. With support from the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training we are pleased to announce the first two workshops to be held at Crowne Plaza Darwin on Tuesday 20th July 2010 and Friday 6th August 2010 from 8.30am to 4.30pm

These two sessions presented by Lesley Wemyss will feature:

Queensland

Trade Queensland invites Queensland companies to participate in the Kids Create Tokyo 2010 Exhibition in its inaugural year. The theme of the exhibition is ‘kids’, encompassing infants through to junior high school students.

Over the last decade there has been substantial growth in offshore delivery of educational programs with some international sources predicting 40% of higher education by English speaking countries will be delivered by transnational programs by the year 2020.  This would equate to around 1.4 million students.

South Australia

The Productivity Commission is currently undertaking a study into the issues impacting on the VET workforce. ACPET will provide a report in response to this study.

ACPET, in association with Transport SA, is encouraging students and staff of member colleges to go Green – one kilometre at a time!

Following the success of its booked-out International Student information sessions earlier this year, ACPET SA is proud to announce an encore series in the second half of 2010. 

ACPET, Education Adelaide and ISANA are pleased to announce that they are holding a workshop on Managing Cultural Diversity within training organisations.
