strengthening the aqf – nsw stakeholders invited

National Monday Update Issue:

NSW stakeholders are invited to attend AQF presentations in Sydney on Tuesday 20 July (10.00am – 12.00pm and 2.00pm and 4.00pm).

The AQF Council met on Wednesday 16 July 2010 and agreed on the package of policies that should comprise the strengthened AQF. This includes:

  • A structure of 10 levels and the criteria for each
  • Qualification type descriptors for each of the existing qualification types
  • Specifications for the construction of qualifications
  • Policies for issuance of qualifications, registers of qualifications, qualification pathways and linkages, generic skills in qualifications, and the addition and removal of qualification types.

The AQF Council is now seeking stakeholder comment. A consultation paper will be available on Monday 12 July with comments required by Wednesday 4 August.

To attend the AQF presentation please aqfc [at] sa [dot] gov [dot] au (email here). Venues will be published in the AQF newsletter and on the AQF website in early July.

Testing the AQF – online survey

Thank you to the 788 people who completed the on-line survey during March, to empirically test the AQF levels criteria, the qualification type descriptors and the placement of the qualifications types in a strengthened framework.

The findings of the research have been used to finesse the criteria and descriptors.
A report on the results will be published in August 2010.
