1. Innovate SA Venture Capital Investment Course

Applications are open for the Innovate SA investment attraction course which aims to maximise the ability of companies to raise private equity.
The course is designed for high growth potential companies who are looking to raise investment in the next twelve months from Angel, Venture Capital or Private Equity investors. The course consists of a five month intensive program of workshops group sessions and mentoring delivered by experienced investment professionals.

Previous participants have raised investment or improved their business model and grown to the point where investment is no longer required. These companies ranged from start-up companies to more mature companies looking to fund significant expansion or new products.
Applications close Friday 25th June.

2. The next Modern Awards deadline is 1 July - are you ready?
Implementing the Educational Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 and National Employment Standards

On 1 January, 2010 the second stage of the new industrial relations regulations was introduced as a result of the Fair Work Act 2009. Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards have come into effect with the next deadline (1 July, 2010) fast approaching. For the post-secondary private education sector, this means either the introduction of the Education Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 or a transition from other instruments.

A range of questions about the interpretation and application of Modern Awards have been raised among members, particularly regarding hours, coverage, classification and transition. No doubt there are more questions to explore!

In this new era of expanded regulation and compliance, ACPET aims to assist members in understanding and implementing the new requirements. We can advise how to communicate with staff, deal with regulators (should this be necessary), understand the transitional arrangement and clarify how changing costs may be reconciled over the next five years.
