modern awards - next deadline 1 july - are you ready?

National Monday Update Issue:

Implementing the Educational Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 and National Employment Standards

As of 1 January 2010, the second stage of the new industrial relations regulations has been introduced as a result of the Fair Work Act 2009. Specifically Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards have come in to effect with the next deadline of 1 July 2010 fast approaching.  For the post secondary private education sector, this means the introduction of the Education Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 or transitioning from other instruments.

Interpretation and application of the Modern Awards have raised a range of questions among members, particularly around hours, coverage, classification and transition. No doubt there are more questions to explore!

In this new era of expanded regulation and compliance, ACPET aims to assist members and other interested attendees by hosting programs on how to understand and implement the new requirements, how to communicate with staff, and how to deal with regulators should this occur.   Transitional arrangements will also be explored to clarify how differences in costs may be smoothed over the next five years.

This forum is designed specifically for our sector and to provide practical workplace relations information in relation to:

  • Education Services Award interpretation
  • Transitional arrangements
  • Practical applications
  • Resources, tools and further support

Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and questions. Whether you are well down the path of working with the Modern Awards or just embarking on the journey, this session is a must for attendees - especially before 1 July 2010.

Limited places so book early to avoid missing out!
