A recent visit to one of our oldest colleges, the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) by NSW Member Support Officer, Sarah Rosen was welcomed by college CEO, Warren Jacobson.

Founded in 1917, the college today is a well established leader in the provision of VET and Higher Education degree programs covering PE teaching, coaching, business, health and movement, and dance for over 1000 students.

The college offers degrees in Health & Movement (Sport), Sports Business, Applied Fitness, Sports Coaching & Administration and Dance Education. Based in Sydney Olympic Park with access to all its sporting facilities coupled with a flexible delivery program ensures that the college is well supported by elite athletes pursuing their education while maintaining their rigorous training schedule.

In fact, according to Warren Jacobson, “ACPE is recognized by the Australian and NSW Institute’s of Sport and the Australian Sports Commission as being an elite athlete friendly institution by enabling athletes to successfully combine their sports training with academic pursuits.”

He is a strong advocate of the professional experience and voluntary community engagement program that the college runs. “Using our close ties with industry we have developed partnerships that enable our students to engage in our professional experience programs across all degrees. For our students, this develops their confidence, provides experience and establishes contact with prospective employers.”

“One of the other key aspects of the college that we are particularly proud of is our extensive scholarship program that rewards academic excellence, leadership, community engagement and elite sporting prowess. As well, the career outcomes of our students are very impressive with an enviable track record of graduate employment and a strong and successful alumnus with 85% of graduates securing employment in the industry while another 5-10% go on to further study.”

“We are optimistic about the future. We will be looking to introduce new undergraduate and postgraduate courses, opening up distance education, new campus operations and continuing to grow our international student market recruitment.” Warren said.
