In South Australia there will be funding for 1264 nationally endorsed training places at Certificate II level; 1436 at Certificate III level; 312 at Certificate IV level and 204 at Diploma level. 60 per cent of the places have been awarded for training towards higher level qualifications in skill shortage areas.
The main South Australian industry sectors to benefit include:
business and financial services; mining, engineering and defence; health and community services; wholesale and retail, tourism and hospitality,
in line with the recommendations of the Training and Skills Commission and the Economic Development Board, and current labour market circumstances.

Implementing the Educational Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 and National Employment Standards
On 1 January, 2010 the second stage of the new industrial relations regulations was introduced as a result of the Fair Work Act 2009. Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards have come into effect with the next deadline (1 July, 2010) fast approaching. For the post-secondary private education sector, this means either the introduction of the Education Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010 or a transition from other instruments.
A range of questions about the interpretation and application of Modern Awards have been raised among members, particularly regarding hours, coverage, classification and transition. No doubt there are more questions to explore!
In this new era of expanded regulation and compliance, ACPET aims to assist members in understanding and implementing the new requirements. We can advise how to communicate with staff, deal with regulators (should this be necessary), understand the transitional arrangement and clarify how changing costs may be reconciled over the next five years.
