E-Learning: Expanding your knowledge
PRESENTATION 1 - E-assessment challenges and solutions

This workshop is aimed at promoting a greater understanding of what practitioners and auditors perceive to be the key issues in e-assessment, and potential strategies that will maintain and promote greater understanding and improved practices.
In 2009-2010, the Australian Flexible Learning Framework commissioned research to examine and promote a greater understanding among auditors and vocational education and training (VET) practitioners of the issues relating to e-assessment and the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). This research was conducted by Victor Callan from the University of Queensland, and Berwyn Clayton from Victoria University who will be presenting the workshop in Adelaide.

A two hour discussion on purely digital resources and their creation and use in education sectors. The workshop will concentrate on format types, such as text, music or audiovisual material and explore:
- what can be used;
- what obligations are there, if any;
- what limitations on their use; and
- compliance and management for organisations.
By the end of the workshop participants would have covered a range of free licences like creative commons, and statutory licences like the Part VB, educational exceptions, as both users and owners of intellectual property, all within the discussion of eLearning resources.

Session Content & Aims
Hedley Reberger, International Student Adviser (The University of Adelaide) will share information on the University of Adelaide International Student Centre’s University-wide international student peer mentoring program, which provides leadership and training opportunities and encourages interaction between international and local students. The program of peer mentor volunteers has been running for more than eight years and student evaluation and feedback has indicated the high value that students place on such support programs.

"Focusing on the importance of assessment for the quality outcomes in education and training."
The Innovative and Professional Practice in Assessment forum is a full day, not-for-profit forum bringing the whole of South Australian VET sector together to learn, to share, to be informed of the latest developments in the area of assessment in education and training.
The program is designed to encourage innovative practice in assessment, present information about Assessment for learning and provide attendees with strategies to apply flexible assessment methodologies in their daily work.
The Australian Flexible Learning Framework will also provide interactive e-learning experiences and presentations. Hot topic discussions and networking opportunities aim to engage and expand connectivity with industry and training providers who are passionate about innovative and quality assessment practices.

- Michael Callahan - Box Hill Institute - Flexible assessment in the trades
