the lord mayor’s student welcome 2010 – 1 august 2010

National Monday Update Issue:

The Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome is all about celebrating the fantastic contribution that multiculturalism adds to this city, through overseas-born Melburnians and the presence of international students. (Nearly 24,000 international students live and study in Melbourne’s central city.)

Students can also learn about support services available during their stay. Information booths will be run by the Australian Federation of International Students, Victoria Police, Melbourne Fire Brigade, Department of Immigration and Citizenship and the City of Melbourne.

The event is on Sunday 1 August 2010 from 2pm until 5pm at City Square [outside Westin Hotel].

The City of Melbourne is currently seeking expressions of interest from students [and staff] who are interested to be part of an amazing group dance performance as part of Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome event at City Square. This will be a great performance with a circus/carnival theme. Check out the last performance.

Choreographers have designed an interesting medley of dances that everyone can follow. No prior dance experience is necessary as the dance steps are easy to learn and everyone is guaranteed to have a good time. Dancers can include people of all ages, nationality, shapes and sizes.

Rehearsal dates, times and rehearsal venue will be confirmed later.

The dance will take place on Sunday 1 August 2010 at City Square.

If you are interested to be part of this dance project, please angelistickus [dot] kusum [at] gmail [dot] com (send an email) by Wednesday 23 June 2010 - and provide them with your name, email address and telephone number so that they can send you more details.
