Professor Robinson, who recently retired as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Ballarat after almost 10 years in that role, has a distinguished academic record. A Veterinary Pathologist with a doctorate from Ohio State University, he has held senior appointments at Deakin University and the University of Queensland and had experience in many aspects of teaching and learning in higher education institutions.
With campuses in Melbourne and Sydney, MIT is one of Australia’s leading private higher education providers, delivering Bachelors and Masters degrees in Business and Information Technology to Australian and overseas students. MIT was recently audited by the Australian Universities Quality Agency and received 11 commendations and affirmations from the visiting expert panel on its teaching and learning program and the high quality of its staff.
MIT is establishing an Academic Board to exercise full oversight of its academic decision-making processes. The new Board is a crucial part of the new academic governance arrangements MIT is putting in place to strengthen policy development, consultation and approval processes.
‘Professor Robinson will chair our new Academic Board and his experience in teaching and learning and academic governance generally, will be invaluable to us on the path to achieving our goals of self-accrediting status and approval as a university college.’ Mr Ghale said.
As Chair of the Academic Board, Professor Robinson will be an ex officio member of the new MIT Higher Education Governing Council, chaired by Emeritus Professor John Rickard.
‘Professor Robinson is a fine academic and his skills and experience will contribute enormously to ensuring MIT has first rate academic programs and quality standards.’ Professor Rickard said.
