alert - training packages revised & amended by vetab for nsw

ACPET RTO members should be advised that at its 7 June 2010 meeting, the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB), under section 26 (1) of the Vocational Education and Training Act 2005, resolved to accredit, as a vocational course, qualifications from the following training packages:

1. UEE07 Electrotechnology - version 3 (amended)
2. ICP10 Printing and Graphic Arts - (revised)
3. ICT10 Integrated Telecommunications - (revised)
4. CHC08 Community Services - version 2 (amended)
5. TAE10 Training and Education (revised)

In revised training packages all qualifications and units are revised and the training package, qualifications and units all have new codes. In amended training packages the version number of the training package changes but not the training package code. Only some qualifications are revised and these are given a new code.

RTOs have a 12-month transition period from the date of VETAB's accreditation (that is, to 6 June 2011) to replace the superseded qualifications on their scope of registration with the revised qualifications in the amended or revised training package. Please note that 6 June 2011 is the last date for enrolment of students in the superseded qualifications.

An VETAB email alert will be sent to NSW RTOS with the superseded qualifications on scope to advise of the transition process in NSW when details are available. Please note that there is no automatic revision process on the CRICOS register.

Information about training package workshops is posted on the VETAB website under Training Package Updates. RTOs need to check the VETAB website regularly for updates.

RTOs are also advised to register on the websites of the relevant Industry Skills Council to obtain updates and provide feedback on the review of training packages that are on the RTO's scope of registration.
