National Monday Update Issue:
Members would be aware of the ACPET entrant in the 2009 Variety Bash featuring the 1979 Mercedes ‘Daisy”.
Daisy and her supporters raised many thousands of dollars for the Variety Charity and provided interested members with opportunities to assist and support the car and to showcase their institution.
Daisy last year managed to survive the drive from Brisbane to Townsville (even after being accidentally given a tankful of diesel on the way) to start the Bash in Townsville and then to Alice Springs via Mt Isa.
Alas Daisy came to grieve in the NT due to the over exuberance of a student driver and had a rather ungraceful entry to the Alice on a tow truck.
Daisy is currently languishing on a hoist at the Australian Trade and Technical College (thanks to Terry O’Hanlon Rise and team) who are contributing to her resurrection. Our thoughts are with all the students of the Motor Trades Institute who worked so hard preparing her last year.
Already this year over $10 000 has been raised for Variety and we again seek support for both the Variety Charity and Daisy. Contributions to Variety are tax deductible – contributions to Daisy alas are not but monies (all processed through ACPET) are needed to support the car and crew in this years run for Southport to Port Douglas.
This year’s bash will again provide opportunities for members to showcase their institutions and the abilities of their students, and for of course to have your institution profiled.
Phillip Charlton and the team at Hospitality Training Associations (HTA) are again providing generous support and d a Daisy lunch is scheduled for Friday 25 June. Join us for a marvelous all inclusive lunch on the day for a one off donation of $80.
Numbers are limited and for a fun afternoon and to support a wonderful cause, please RSVP to cassie [dot] fitzgerald [at] acpet [dot] edu [dot] au (Cassie Fitzgerald) by COB Friday 18 June
