The topic for TVET Australia’s June Policy in the Pub will be The Quality of VET Teachers: Australia’s Future in Their Hands!
The event will be held on Monday, 7 June from 4pm-6.30pm at the Honey Bar in South Melbourne. The three speakers will include Associate Professor Leesa Wheelahan (LH Martin Institute, University of Melbourne), Pat Forward (TAFE Secretary, Australian Education Union) and Robert Bluer (IBSA Industry Manager in charge of the TAA04). This event will be facilitated by TVET Australia’s new CEO, Neil Edwards.
The forum will explore the quality of the VET teaching workforce given its high priority in government and policy maker’s minds at present. With the ambitious targets set by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) to raise the level of post-secondary qualifications, increase skills and improve social inclusion, the June Policy in the Pub will focus on issues such as capacity and capability of the Australian VET workforce.
The purpose of the event is to engage in a frank and open discussion on the qualifications required by VET teachers, necessary to ensure students receive the best education and training opportunities possible.
