acpet loched in the nt

National Monday Update Issue:
Over 80 RTO and industry delegates attended the ACPET Over the Top Skilling Australia Forum in Darwin last week. Delegates from the four corners of the continent converged to discuss matters of important to regional and remote Australia.

One of the planned networking highlights for delegates and guests was to be a harbour sunset cruise. Alas, the loch in Cullen Bay was jammed so the ACPETeers on the Spirit of Darwin were trapped in the marina with no option but to go in circles. Was this yet another attempt to isolate our sector?

Just how much of a barrier are a few iron gates when compared with the hurdles and bayonets we face daily from those southern bureaucrats who are effectively decimating what was until recently Australia’s third largest export industry?

Fortunately, as the following days unfolded, the NT proved to be warm in both the perfect weather and the reception from local providers and our political and department colleagues and friends.

On Friday, ACPET Chair Kay Ganley, together with CEO Andrew Smith and EO Michael Hall were invited to attend the NT Industry Engagement Forum on Skilling and Workforce Development hosted by DET CEO Gary Barnes with a keynote address from Minister Chris Burns. At this Forum ACPET was acknowledged as having a significant role in assisting the government on a range of program initiatives.

The NT and the North in general are facing enormous challenges – and opportunities- as identified through the recently released Jobs NT program and evidenced through the burgeoning demand for infrastructure and resource development.

ACPET members are well placed in delivering the goods for government and industry and have the combined responsive and considered ability to support the array of agendas in train.

Our thanks to all those who contributed to this most successful of ACPET Forums, and again our thanks to the NT Government for their support.
