National Monday Update Issue:
As of 1 July 2010, modern award pay rates, penalties and loadings will come in to effect, with transitional provisions available over the next five years. These will become the mandatory minimum safety net.
The Education Services (Post Secondary Education) Award 2010, commenced from 1 January 2010, however if you have been covered by an award with different wages, penalties or loadings, then those elements will commence on a phased in basis from 1 July 2010 as a model transition clause has been included in the Award.. If your organisation has been award free, we understand rates of pay, penalties and loadings will transition from the federal minimum wage or relevant pay scales and conditions from 1 July 2010. Members will need to ensure business practices are up to date and comply.
To assist members with these changes, extensive information is available through the Member’s tab on the ACPET website. Having logged in, under Industrial Advocacy, Industrial Relations, there is a wealth of Award and ACPET Fact Sheets, Frequently Asked Questions and useful links that will assist members through the maze of the Industrial Relations changes. Further queries, comments and feedback can be directed through this webpage to the HR Advisory Service.
A range of update seminars have been conducted around the country with more to come. Do not hesitate to forward queries or thoughts on further assistance.
The HR Advisory Service is a recent and developing service and we are keen for member input regarding additional benefits and resources that would be valued by members. Ideas already received cover seminar topics, a HR Interest Group, benchmarking, a remuneration survey, access to online tools, industry employer panels and the like.
