queensland government official mission to china and japan 18 – 26 june 2010

National Monday Update Issue: 

Senior Queensland Government Ministers are to lead a trade mission to China and Japan from 18 – 26 June 2010. ACPET has also been invited to participate.

China is Queensland’s second largest export market and this mission will continue strengthening key business ties and improve trade and investment opportunities. Areas of interest for the Mission will include education and training, clean energy and resources, food and agribusiness, science and innovation, tourism and creative industries (including fashion and architecture) arts, and cultural performance will be showcased.

The Queensland Government is a Platinum Sponsor of the Australian Pavilion and QUEENSLAND WEEK will officially launch on Sunday 20 June 2010. QUEENSLAND WEEK is a high profile event that will attract a large global audience.

Education and training highlights during this week include the Queensland Shanghai Cup (19th) sponsored by ACPET and the Queensland-China Education and Training Awards for Excellence (22nd) to be held in the VIP area of the Australian Pavilion.

To underpin the importance of ours longstanding bilateral relationship, the mission will then travel to Japan.

Our biggest trading partner, Japan, is a key market for Queensland and remains our largest merchandise export destination, with exports of more than A$16 billion in 2008-09, almost 30% of the State’s merchandise exports.
