Last Monday evening, Kenvale College hosted their annual WineFest at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia.
Working in teams students put on the wine tasting event and arrange sponsorship as part of an assessment for their Hospitality and Event Management studies. It is a competition between each of the wine sponsored teams, and this year’s event was won by the Stonefish Wines team.
Special guest, Hon Jodi McKay MP, Minister for Tourism and Minister for the Hunter, congratulated the students for successfully staging the wine tasting event showcasing many well-know and boutique wineries across Australia.
With over 200 guests from the hospitality industry, sponsors, government, media and students families, the event proved a great success.
Based in Randwick and in operation since 1971, Kenvale College is a VET provider of Hospitality and Event Management to advanced diploma level, as well as Commercial Cookery studies.
Selena Hooper, Managing Director, is proud of her students who enthusiastically take up the many opportunities that Kenvale offers as part of their core ethos of community service. The non denominational, not for profit college promotes community involvement activities and fund raising as part of the students learning program. Selena believes that “community service provides useful skills for the hospitality industry and the development of self. At Kenvale we focus on the student as a whole, developing their skills for employment and for life. We also teach ethics, business ethics and have a mentoring program to support each and every student.
Our ‘High Flyer’, ‘Get Real Events’ and ‘Scholarship programs’ enhance industry relationships and the annual WineFest is a showcase event for our Hospitality and Event Management students.”
