Minister for Education and Training Andrew Barr announced a high level taskforce last week to consult with the Canberra community on the future of skills and tertiary training in the ACT.
The taskforce, chaired by ACT Department of Education and Training Chief Executive Dr Jim Watterston includes ACPET ACT Executive Officer Frank Sette and other leading industry representatives and education professionals who met last week to open dialogue around the discussion paper “Creating a Connected ACT Tertiary Education Environment”. The Task Force expects to report back with an options paper to the ACT government by the end of this year.
The Minister in releasing the discussion paper urged all Canberrans to have their say in an area of vital interest for all. The discussion paper is available at the DET website.
Interested stakeholders are urged to make submissions to the ACPET ACT Office via email or to the taskforce direct by 25 June 2010.
