acpet sa recognised at lord mayor’s reception

National Monday Update Issue:

More than one hundred guests representing industry and the private education sector joined Adelaide Lord Mayor Michael Harbison last Wednesday to acknowledge ACPET for its contribution to education and training in South Australia.

The Lord Mayor hosted the networking reception at Adelaide Town Hall to promote closer ties between industry, employers and providers of education and training.

Among the speakers during the evening was ACPET SA Executive Officer Joy de Leo (OAM).

“In order to continue building a strong state economy, it is vital for employers and providers of education and training to work closely together to fill critical skills shortages as the ageing workforce retires and meet skilled labour demands in new and emerging industries.
It is through networking events such as this that these partnerships may be nurtured.”

Lord Mayor Harbison says strengthening Adelaide’s education sector is also a key strategic objective of the City Council.

“Tonight we hope to foster a closer communication and better understanding of the respective needs of private education and training providers,” said the Lord Mayor during his address.

“Through such collaboration, workforce development objectives are met for the benefit of the City of Adelaide and ultimately for South Australia.”
