2. Equal Opportunity Commission Training

11 May, 9am - 12pm - Workplace bullying, discrimination and harassment

This workshop for staff identifies appropriate and inappropriate behaviours and some low key, but effective, ways of intervening early. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe what is meant by discrimination, harassment and bullying
  • Understand its impact in the workplace
  • Understand their rights and responsibilities
  • Know what to do and where to go for help

 


19 May, 9am - 12pm - (NEW) Advanced skills for managers and supervisors

This workshop is designed to enhance the skills of experienced managers and supervisors in the early intervention of disputes and complaint handling. The workshop assumes a sound knowledge of equal opportunity laws and focuses on preventing inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained the following skills:

  • Early intervention in workplace disputes
  • Confidence in dealing with situations of conflict
  • Role modelling respectful behaviours
  • Complaint handling skills

3. DFEEST Professional Development – Internal Audit

Conducting an internal audit is not just about meeting AQTF 2007 and State Training Authority requirements - it is about creating positive and identifiable outcomes.

Participants will learn about the process of AQTF RTO Internal audits, become familiar with and take away tools to assist with the processes, identify how they can use the process to benefit their organisation, staff and clients, how to utilise the outcomes from the internal audits and embed the process within their existing systems or create their own.

Target audience
VET Professionals: Staff who provide leadership, management and support for teaching, training and assessment within RTO’s, but who are not directly involved in delivery of nationally accredited training. This includes roles such as RTO Managers and Compliance Officers.

VET Support and Administrative Staff who will be administering, collecting and producing reports that will assist the RTO in providing quality training and assessment services to clients.

VET Practitioners: Staff directly involved in delivery of teaching, training and/or assessment programs.

4. DFEEST Professional Development – RPL Workshop

Do you want to know more about assessment, including recognition of prior learning?
Are you confident you conduct RPL in accordance with principles of assessment and rules of evidence?
Do you systematically validate RPL and meet workplace, industry and regulatory requirements?
Are you trying to develop a culture of change in RPL and assessment Practice?
Do you ever find yourself, staff, clients or industry stakeholders asking “What can I use for evidence?” or “How much evidence is enough?


Target audience
These sessions are for RTOs who deliver and assess vocational competencies and are continuously improving their learning and assessment strategies to meet both the requirements of the Training Package and industry.

Pre-requisites
To participate it is expected that as well as your industry currency and trainer/assessor competence you will be continuing to develop your VET knowledge and skills.

5. DFEEST Quality and Tertiary Education Policy Directorate: Innovation in Assessment Forum – Note the date in your diary (Friday 25 June)
"Focusing on the importance of assessment for the quality outcomes in education and training"

The Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology together with the Australian Flexible Learning Framework is convening a specialist professional development forum for the South Australian vocational education and training sector.

The forum offers practitioners and managers in RTOs and industry:

  • professional development and networking opportunities with colleagues from the education and training sector,
  • introduction to lead assessors from the Capability Builders – Assessment program 2009,
  • models of good practice and capability building in assessment for learning,
  • tools for flexible assessment methods,
  • creative practice in assessment for learning,
  • the assessment for learning principles and strategies, and
  • an opportunity to experience innovation in e-Learning and assessment.


The full program will be available in May.
