JMC Academy (NSW) last week, opened its doors for Sarah Rosen, ACPET NSW to take a look at the creative sector and meet with current students.
This meet was part of Sarah’s brief as the newly appointed ‘NSW Member Support Officer’ to get out on the road and talk to members.
JMC first opened its doors in Surry Hills in 1982 to be Australia’s first private provider offering audio engineering, before rapidly expanding to include multimedia and digital television. Today it is an industry leader in delivering world class, integrated and technologically superior programs catering for the needs of the creative industries in Australia and overseas.
“Having grown to over 550 mainly domestic students, participating in one of 5 higher education courses, the academy’s focus continues to be to produce well qualified, market competitive and commercially astute graduates who are able to succeed in the global multi-billion dollar Creative Industries” said Martin Cass, Director of JMC Academy, Chair of ACPET NSW Committee and Deputy Chair, ACPET National Board.
“Recently we introduced an integration program where students complete practical projects and assessments requiring input between students from the 5 different departments to achieve a final result.” He says this replicates the real world of the entertainment industry where, for example, the production of a music video clip requires the collaborative efforts of students from Entertainment production, digital media, animation, popular music and performance, digital television production with sound engineering and production. Such a project requires the specific expertise of students collaborating across the 5 branches of the college.
JMC offers students Diploma, Associate Degree and Bachelor programs in Audio Engineering & Sound Production, Digital Animation, Digital Television Production, Entertainment Business Management and Popular Music & Performance.
