megt responds to an article in the age

National Monday Update Issue:

MEGT has responded to The Age article on Monday 3 May 2010 with the following letter to the editor:

Re: Spurned Indian students fight for refund of their fees - May 3, 2010, Sushi Das.

The newspaper quote from a letter written to education agents in November last year by then Hales Institute’s Managing Director, Spiro Liolios, has not presented accurate information to readers. Its use of out of date material is misinformation and does not reflect well on the credibility of journalist Sushi Das and does not advise international students of their options.

MEGT (Australia) Ltd provided financial support for Hales Institute immediately after the Institute went into voluntary administration in order to allow students to continue with their studies. A Hales Institute Reimbursement Trust fund for students eligible for a refund has been established through PPB, the administrators.

MEGT has now acquired Hales Institute, ensuring continuity of this 100 year Melbourne institution and is currently focusing on ensuring all vocational education is fully compliant with Australian Quality Training Framework and on student support services.
