acpet submission to the premier on the future of international education and training in qld

National Monday Update Issue:

ACPET had the privilege of meeting with Premier Anna Bligh a few weeks ago to discuss a range of issues related to the international education and training sector.

As members are aware this sector is now a pivotal driver of the Australian and Queensland economies and brings with it a wealth of social and cultural benefits. International students are also contributors to the economic growth of Queensland.

ACPET provided the Premier with a submission that highlights the achievements of the sector and identified a number of drivers for addressing some of the issues and ensuring that this most valuable of industries maintains the highest possible levels of quality and student protection and welfare.

The submission calls for an open and collaborative review on how best to resource and support the sector and to ensure that ACPET and our members are legitimately engaged in any planning for support of the sector.

Since providing the Premier ACPET has had an opportunity to meet with a number of key government stakeholders and is pleased to advise members that the call for a review has been acknowledged.

Further details will appear in future editions of National Monday Update.
