shanghai cup finals for 2009/2010 students english speech competition

National Monday Update Issue: 

Members would be aware of the Queensland – Shanghai Cup as a means to provide successful Chinese students with an opportunity to visit Queensland to study English and to promote Queensland as a destination of choice for Chinese students.

ACPET, together with other Qld sponsors including members St Paul’s College and BNIT have been invited to assist with the judging of this most prestigious program. A number of preliminary competitions have already been conducted, and it is now down to 18 candidates who will compete in the final.

Eight students will be awarded with prizes to undertake a free study visit to Qld for two weeks this year. They are grouped into the following three sectors as:

High School: 4 candidates (2 winners selected)
University: 4 candidates (2 winners selected)
Vocational Education: 10 candidates (4 winner selected),
                                         3 candidates for Tourism/Hospitality (1 winner selected)
                                         3 candidates for Nursing (1 winner selected)
                                         4 candidates for Business English (2 winners selected)

All the candidates will be making a 3-minute speech on the topics they will choose on that day, For the VET sector; candidates are also requested to demonstrate their vocational skills while they are making the presentations.
