modern awards workshop for nsw generates lively debate

National Monday Update Issue:

ACPET NSW hosted its Modern Awards workshop on Wednesday 21 April at the Grace Hotel in Sydney.

Brenda Lucardie, Manager of ACPET's new HR Advisory Service led members through the formation of the Modern Awards, the transition schedule and implementation issues. We were also fortunate to be able to welcome as guest presenter, Charles Power, Accredited Workplace Relations Specialist and Partner at Holding Redlich with offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Presentations by Brenda and Charles were well received with questions and animated discussion from the group around classification, coverage, definitions, hours and pay scales under the award.

Members should be aware that further extensive information is available through the Member’s tab on the ACPET website. Having logged in, under Industrial Advocacy, Industrial Relations, there is a wealth of Award and ACPET Fact Sheets, Frequently Asked Questions and useful links that will assist members through the maze of the Industrial Relations changes. Further queries, comments and feedback can be directed through this webpage to the HR Advisory Service.

As a recent and developing service, we are keen for member input regarding additional benefits and resources that could be part of the HR Advisory Service. Ideas already received cover seminar topics, a HR Network Group, benchmarking, a remuneration survey, access to online tools, industry employer panels and the like.
