The National Worldskills Finals of floristry were held in Sydney at the Royal Sydney Easter Show on April 12 to 14.
Three Victorian regions were represented by Tamika Mackrell, Sallyann Ward and Dimitra Markos, two from New South Wales being Asahi So and Lauren Maloney and Emma Hunter from Western Australia.
Nine individual items were constructed over three days of competition. The public were able to view the competitors constructing the items.
Mark O’Callahan, CEO of WorldSkills announced Tamika Mackrell of Jen’s Flowers, Sale as the Gold winner and Alan Randell-Smith presented Tamika with her medal. Tamika commenced training at Marjorie Milner College as a school based apprentice in January 2007. Tamika enjoyed floristry so much that her employer offered a full time apprenticeship. Tamika was awarded the top second year apprentice trophy by Marjorie Milner College.

Gold winner Tamika Mackrell
